Since 1998, the University of Utah Veterans Day Committee has selected Utah veterans to be honored in a special military commemoration ceremony and luncheon. Nominations are accepted for individuals living in Utah who served or serve in the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, or National Guard; on active duty or the reserves; for any length of time; in any location; and who have not been separated from these services without an honorable discharge. Nominees do not have to be alumni or associated with the university in any way. Each year, the committee selects eleven honorees based on noteworthy honor, courage, commitment, and sacrifice during their military service to our nation, but decorations for valor are not required. Selections are only based on the nominee’s military service.
Documentation to verify the nominee’s service and awards is required. Additional supporting documentation is welcome. Please fill out the form completely, attaching additional sheets as necessary. Each item on the form will expand to accommodate additional text when filled out online or with Microsoft Word. Neatly hand-written nominations are accepted via mail or via email as scanned documents. Nominations for 2024 honorees are now being accepted. A downloadable version of the form can be found at the bottom of the page in "Option 2". Please direct any inquiries to the University of Utah Veterans Support Center at (801) 587-7722.
